Leading Birthright Israel trips as a madricha (Hebrew for ‘leader’) is an incredibly meaningful leadership opportunity that has allowed me to continuously discover Israel through my participants’ eyes. I’ve led four trips to date and have helped shape the experiences of approximately 200 Canadian and Israeli participants. Most recently, I had the privilege of celebrating the eight nights of Chanukah in Israel with my December 2019 group. Watching our Birthright Israel family form a human menorah at the Bedouin tents that lit up the dark desert sky is just one of the many memories I’ll forever treasure.
Back home in Canada, I am excited to be part of the dedicated team of alumni who are committed to building the foundational framework of the inaugural Young Leadership Council. Birthright Israel plays a pivotal role in so many young adults’ lives, and fostering an active and vibrant alumni community is a key component in fulfilling the program’s vision. Through engagement activities and philanthropic giving, our council looks forward to connecting with the extended Birthright Israel family in meaningful ways and ensuring the continuity of this once-in-a-lifetime gift for generations to come.
