A letter from an impassioned Mom and Birthright Israel donor, Robyn Kestenberg

May 12, 2024 –

My name is Robyn. I am a proud Jewish Canadian whose life is steeped in Jewish tradition, community involvement and a deep love for Israel.

Today, I am very concerned as I watch Jew-hatred exploding all over the world. I worry about our future here in Canada and as Jews throughout the Diaspora.

I am comforted when I know Birthright Israel is carrying on with its mission to send Jewish young adults to Israel, especially now!

I feel very strongly that Israel is fundamental to the safety and security of the Jewish people. Seeing the impact Birthright Israel had on my daughter Samantha, who travelled last year, made me realize that giving the next generation the opportunity to experience Israel first-hand, with their peers, is unmatchable and entrenches their connection and commitment to Israel and to their Jewish identity.

And at this very moment, my son AJ is participating! The opportunity at this time could not be more meaningful or necessary.

Birthright Israel’s mission is a monumental undertaking. But after seeing how strongly the passion for Israel developed in and strengthened Samantha and her friends as a result of their experience, I realized how important this opportunity really was. These young adults have been implanted with the fundamentals to become the future leaders of our community, which is more than I could have ever expected from a 10-day trip.

I want to ensure that many more receive this gift and it can only happen with the support of our entire community. Birthright Israel is a wonderful program. But its availability depends on donations from people like you and me.

This Mother’s Day, please join me in supporting the program that strengthens and empowers Jewish pride and support for Israel at a most critical time!

To all mothers and mother-figures, I wish you a very Happy Mother’s Day!

Sincerely,

Robyn Kestenberg (Samantha and AJ’s mom)
